Miscellaneous (Check-in, Check-out, Spending Money, etc.)

What time do I need to have my camper at camp on Sunday?

  • Check-in begins at 3:30PM. We are unable to allow check-ins prior to 3:30PM. Upon arrival at Lutheridge or Lutherock, please check with the roadside attendant for check-in information. If you need other information upon arrival at camp, please come to the office at Efird Hall at Lutheridge or the Founder's Lodge at Lutherock. If campers must arrive later than 5:00PM please call our offices: Lutheridge: 828-684-2361 * Lutherock: 828-733-5868.

When is check-out on Saturday?

  • The camp week ends with breakfast on Saturday (Wednesday breakfast for half-week programs at Lutheridge). Campers are available for pick up 8:30-10:00AM. Staff are not scheduled to supervise campers beyond 10:00AM. Children worry if parents are not on time. Please let your child's counselor know at check-in if you MUST be late. Members of the counseling staff will supervise Lutherock campers being transported to Lutheridge on the shuttle. Pick up for campers on the shuttle is between 11:00-11:30AM.

Should I send spending money with my camper?

  • The registration fee includes the cost of lodging, meals, study materials, craft supplies, and program costs. However, there are additional opportunities to spend money:
    • Lutheridge: The snack bar is open to campers once during the week (more elaborate things like milk shakes, banana spilts, sundaes, etc.; $4.00 is adequate). The Lutheridge Store stocks items such as t-shirts, jackets, basic toiletries, souvenirs, local crafts, postcards, postage stamps, etc. Campers will visit the store once during the week. Most items range in price from $1.00-$50.00. Campers will also have the opportunity to donate money to the ELCA World Hunger Campaign. They may also do this by giving money, or by choosing to go without canteen for a night and putting their canteen token in the donation box instead. Parents are welcome to visit the store during the weekend hours listed below.
    • Lutherock: Spending money is needed only for the purchase of items from the camp store (t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, water bottles, etc.). Clothing prices range from about $8.00-$45.00.

What are the store hours? Am I able to visit during the weekend?

  • Yes, the Lutheridge store is open on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday hours are from 9:00AM-12:00PM. Sunday hours are from 2:00-5:00PM.

Is there anything my camper should not pack?

  • This too is in the Camper & Parent Information Packet. Alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, or other tobacco products, and drugs not prescribed by a physician are NOT permitted at camp! Violation of this policy results in immediate dismissal. Do not bring CELL PHONES, food (snacks, gum, candy, drinks), knives, firecrackers or similar items to camp. Do not bring new or expensive clothing, jewelry or other such items; LLMI is not responsible for their loss or damage.

I think my camper left an item behind. Is there a lost and found?

  • Lutheridge+Lutherock Ministries is not responsible for lost person items. Our counselors try hard to ensure that all camper belongings are properly cared for. Please read the guidelines in the Packing List in the Camper & Parent Information Packet. Do not bring clothing or items that are expensive or irreplaceable. However, if you find something missing, please feel free to call us to give us any details that will help us locate the missing items. Any items unclaimed after September 1 will be given to local charities.
