A One Week Residential Camp for those with Mild to Moderate Developmental Delays
We offer three one-week sessions of Christian Residential Camp in the beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains, near Asheville, NC. Our focus is on building faith while having fun! Campers are challenged to make new friends and experience new adventures. Campers will be grouped in cabins by age as much as possible. ALL THREE PROGRAMS are designed for campers who are independent in personal hygiene (no diapers), non-aggressive and generally compliant. Living space is VERY communal, and group participation is stressed, so campers needing lots of personal space or alone time would not enjoy this program. SUMMERSHINE KIDS
June 29-July 5, 2008 AGE 10-25 Active Children & Youth
This program serves children and youth, 10-25 years of age. SummerShine Kids are ACTIVE , enjoying movement & play! Because of the rough terrain & need to walk (lots) on trails, campers with mobility problems do not fit this program. Counselor to Camper ratio is one to four. Activities include: Crafts, Games, Hikes, Swimming, Canoeing, Creative Bible Lessons & Worship! There are five "activity periods" & a rest time after lunch each day. One day includes an off-site nature outing. Bedtime is determined by camper age. The program also includes Independence Day Festivities: Making Costumes for parade! American Heroes at meals! Fireworks Worship on Friday night! And Jesus-in whom we find our TRUE freedom! LODGING is in Cabins - with bunk beds & shared bathroom. (Bring a sleeping bag!) The counselor stays in an adjacent room in the same cabin. Cost for this program is $444.

SUMMERSHINE ADULTS
July 20-26, 2008 AGE 21+ ACTIVE Adults
This program serves ACTIVE adults age 21+ years old (as of the camp week) SummerShine Adults ENJOY being ACTIVE, playing running games and going on hikes in the woods! Because of the rough terrain & need to walk (lots) on trails, campers with mobility problems do not fit this program. Counselor to Camper ratio is one to four. ACTIVITIES include: Crafts, Games, Hikes, Swimming, Canoeing, Creative Bible Lessons & Worship! There are five "activity periods" & a rest time after lunch each day. CHRISTMAS in JULY festivities are a part of this program, including lighting the Advent Wreath, Christmas Crafts, a visit from St. Nicholas, acting out the Christmas story & special Christmas Worship at week's end. This group also enjoys an off-camp outing. LODGING is in Lakeside Cabins - two bedrooms - each with two bunk beds & one bathroom (four to a room- with two campers on top bunks). Bring a sleeping bag or linens. The counselor is in the room next door. Lakeside Cabins are at the bottom of the hill - & the dining hall is at the top. so plan on LOTS of WALKING the trails! Cost for this program is $444.

HILLTOP SUMMERSHINE
July 27-August 2, 2008 AGE 21+
Less Active Adults Please note: If you received a postcard saying that your camper must register for Hilltop, please do not register for any other program without first talking with Pastor Mary. This program will serve adults who are able to provide their own self-care, but who are less mobile. Because of the rough terrain & need to walk on trails, campers in wheel chairs do not fit this program. Counselor to Camper ratio is one to three. ACTIVITIES include: Crafts, Games, Creative Bible Lessons & Worship! Special events like "Show & Tell" , a Talent Show, Karaoke & other fun activities that do not require lots of physical activity are planned for the whole group to enjoy. There are four "activity periods" each day, with a nice long rest time after lunch. LODGING is on the Hill for this program - in Thornburg Hall, Bacot Center or Carla & H&H Cottages. These buildings are near the dining hall and meeting rooms. All beds are lower bunks with linens provided. There will be three campers per room, sharing a bathroom with another room. There are no bathtubs, only showers. The counselor is in a room nearby. Most activities will take place on the top of the hill, so walking is necessary, but limited. Cost for this program is $464 since linens are provided and camper/counselor ratio is lower.
